Dr. Shailendra Kumar
Dr. Shailendra Kumar is currently serving as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Prior to this, he worked for approximately four and a quarter years as the Additional Director General at Prasar Bharati (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting). Before that, he served for three years as a Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He has also held various positions in the Department of Personnel and Training, Department of Economic Affairs, Union Public Service Commission, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, and other departments.
Dr. Kumar joined the Government of India in 1992 after passing the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and completing his training. He has acquired various degrees by studying different subjects. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Science, he pursued an Honors degree in Russian Language and Literature. He then earned postgraduate degrees in four different subjects: Hindi Language and Literature, Management, Governance and Development, and Economics, culminating in a Ph.D. in Economics. During this period, he also studied various languages—Hindi, Russian, Urdu, Sanskrit, Spanish, and English—obtaining degrees, diplomas, or certificates in these languages.
From the beginning, Dr. Kumar has had a keen interest in writing and has written on various subjects. He has authored or co-authored seven books and written over a hundred articles on diverse topics. His book “World Trade Organization: In the Context of India,” published by Rajkamal, was declared the best Hindi book of the year 2000 and was honored with two national awards. His second book, “Trade in Services: Advantage India,” was published in 2005. He has also contributed to his third and fourth books on international trade. One of his research articles on international trade was published in the Netherlands. In addition to these books, he continues to write on Indian language, culture, history, religion, and various economic and social issues. Recently, three of his books—”Namghar,” “Christianity and the Cultural Destruction of Northeast India,” and “Christianity and Colonial Laws’ Web in Jharkhand”—have been published. Over the past three years, he has delivered more than fifty lectures on various topics on different YouTube channels.
